Taiichiro Nomura （ Izumi School Kyogenkata Noh performer ）, Takanobu Sakaguchi （ Kanze School Shite performer ）, Saburota Kanze （ ） and others

Noh is a classical form of Japanese theater that was created over 600 years ago and is still alive today. Its expression is not limited to acting, but also combines dance, dramatic poetry and verse, singing and instrumental performance to create a highly sophisticated performing art.

Kyogen is a cheerful, burlesque counterpart or interlude, inextricably linked to the serious Noh. Its main focus is on comically exposing human flaws and weaknesses.

February 2025 Izumi and Kanze school Noh performers will be invited to Europe for a two-day performance at the Nippon Cultural Center under the direction of renowned kyogen master Taichiro Nomura （ of the Izumi school ）.

The program includes two Kyogen pieces and the Noh play "Funabenkei". This piece revolves mainly around the tale of the Heike. Funabenkei" is performed as a so-called half Noh play, with only the second half of the play performed on stage. The performed piece is subtitled in German.
